'The Flash' / 'Supergirl' Crossover: Barry Meets Kara In First Teaser For 'Worlds Finest'

CBS has released the first teaser for the much anticipated crossover episode between "Supergirl" and The CW's "The Flash." In the 10-second clip, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) speeds his way into National City only to abruptly stop after seeing Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) seemingly coming for him. Both superheroes look quite surprised after seeing each other, which makes us wonder whether this is first meeting between the Scarlet Speedster and the Girl of Steel. As previously reported, Barry suddenly finds himself in National City in episode 18 of "Supergirl," and in exchange for the Kryptonian's help in finding his way home, the hero from Central City teams up with her to fight not one but two enemies: Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci), the alter ego of Cat Grant's (Calista Flockhart) former assistant, Siobhan Smythe, and returning villain Livewire (Brit Morgan). "It is the most joyous occasion to have these two superheroes together in the same place, at the same time, working together," Benoist told TVLine of the crossover episode at PaleyFest LA last weekend. "They are both so happy with their powers and what they get to do and how they get to help people, that it's kind of infectious and exciting and upbeat and happy."

For instance, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) won't be thrilled seeing the two heroes "immediately click" and enjoy "quite an adorable banter" with each other. "We have this little rivalry, because he's a superhero, too, and kind of hitting on my girl a little bit," Brooks said. "I'm like, 'Damn you, Barry.'" Above anything else, executive producer Ali Adler is much more excited for the viewers to see Benoist and Gustin's chemistry on screen. "I'm most excited for you guys to see the chemistry we got to enjoy on the stage and out on the day," Adler told IGN. "Grant's amazing, I worked with him a little bit on 'Glee' as I did with Melissa back then, and they're friends, so it is nice to see their camaraderie." Although Adler admitted that it was "tough" juggling people's schedules to make the mash-up episode possible, she said that in success, they would love to do it again. "Supergirl" episode 18, titled "Worlds Finest," airs on Monday, March 28, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
