Ashanti Cross-Examined By Alleged Stalker, Asked Bizarre Questions: 'I Wish You To Stop'

Devar Hurd, the man who was accused of stalking Ashanti back in 2009, faced the singer today (March 16) and cross-examined her in a Manhattan Supreme Court. According to the New York Daily News, Hurd — who's been in police custody since 2013 — acted as his own lawyer and asked Ashanti the most bizarre questions. He also seemed to suggest that she liked the sexually charged messages that he sent her. "You continuously tweeted over and over again disgusting, derogatory, disrespectful things to me after you had already gone to jail for doing the same things," said the singer. "I wish you to stop. I just wish you to stop."

This is the third time Ashanti had to face Hurd in court. In 2014, one of the jury members became sick, so there was a mistrial called. Then in October of 2015, he was convicted of all charges but one, stalking in the second degree. In addition, Hurd was tried and convicted of stalking the 35-year-old and her mother in 2009, who also testified in court today. "I'm here because I have to let everyone know how I feel about how you stalked my daughter," said Tina Douglas.
